How does it work?

The BMW Ethernet/Fiber Optic decoder is a component used in the vehicle’s multimedia and communication systems. Its main function is to facilitate the processing, conversion, and routing of data between the car’s head unit, control modules, and peripheral devices (e.g., amplifiers, displays, and cameras) via high-speed communication networks like Ethernet or fiber optics.
For Ethernet, the decoder works to convert Ethernet signals to protocols or formats recognized by other vehicle systems.
For fiber optics, it converts optical signals into digital formats. This ensures compatibility with devices that don’t directly process optical signals, such as amplifiers or screens.

Note:

When installing the MOST box and the Ethernet box, both need to be connected to an after-sales DSP device, and you can’t use the original car’s built-in amplifier.
